Brave-mcp provides a robust local-control stack allowing Codex to operate the Brave browser via the MCP protocol. It's engineered as a three-part system: an MV3 extension interacting directly with Brave APIs, a localhost daemon managing connections and state, and an MCP server handling Codex requests. This architecture prioritizes security, a clean install process, and a stable contract for browser control, moving beyond simple automation to offer a shareable browser control product with clear boundaries for inspecting tabs, navigating pages, querying DOM, performing interactions, capturing diagnostics, and managing network traffic.
