Icinga serves as a powerful bridge, exposing the functionalities of Icinga Web 2 and its Icinga DB Web module through both a FastAPI REST API and a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server. It enables programmatic interaction with Icinga monitoring data, supporting comprehensive read and write operations such as listing hosts and services, managing problems, scheduling downtimes, adding comments, and processing check results. The tool also provides optional data normalization and summary projections, making it versatile for integration with UIs, orchestration tools like MCPO, and even Large Language Models for advanced monitoring management.
