You will need Python 3.8 or higher, a virtual environment, and the mpremote utility to communicate with the badge.

What is the Universe 2025 Badge?

It is a custom version of the Pimoroni Tufty 2350 created for GitHub Universe 2025, running MonaOS, a MicroPython-based operating system.

Why can't I upload apps directly using mpremote?

The /system/apps directory on the badge is read-only over serial. You must put the badge into USB Mass Storage Mode by double-clicking the Reset button to copy files.

How do I make my app show up in the launcher?

Your app must be in a directory inside /apps/ containing an __init__.py file and a 24x24 pixel icon.png file.
